Reconsideration Steps
Step 1: Review Your Refusal Letter
Carefully read the refusal letter from IRCC and note the reasons for refusal. Common refusal reasons include:
- Lack of strong ties to home country.
- Financial insufficiency.
- Study plan issues.
- Travel history.
- Purpose of visit.
If you believe the officer overlooked or misunderstood some information, or you have additional supporting documents, you can request a reconsideration.
Step 2: Gather Supporting Documents
Prepare all relevant documents to address the refusal reasons, such as:
- Proof of finances.
- Family ties or employment proof in your home country.
- Updated study plan or letter of explanation.
- Any document the officer may have overlooked in your initial application.
Step 3: Write a Reconsideration Request Letter
Draft a professional and respectful letter to IRCC, including:
- Your Full Name and Application Number.
- UCI (Unique Client Identifier) – Found on your refusal letter.
- Date of refusal and type of application.
- Detailed explanation of why you believe the decision was unfair or an error.
- Clear response to the refusal reasons.
- Request for the officer to reconsider your application.
- Attach supporting documents.
Tip: Be polite and avoid blaming the visa officer.
